Tools for Titans

I'm reading Tools for Titans by Tim Ferriss and there are so many good snippets I want to share with you. Today, lets look at the rule of 3 and 10 which was shared with Phil Libin, co-founder of Evernote, by Hiroshi Mikitani, CEO of Rakuten. The rule of 3 and 10 means that every single thing in your company breaks every time you roughly triple in size. So you grow from 1 to 3 people and suddenly things are different. You grow to 10 people and everything that was work well with 3 people breaks. Then you grow to 30, and 100, and 300 and so on.

Systems and processes will of course be some of the things that will break but they will also be what holds you together. As you grow, continually ask yourself: Have you outgrown your systems If so, it's time to make some changes.

Who knows what

It's important to establish from the outset not only who's responsible for dong what but also who's responsible for knowing what.
